The staff of the Training Centre are dedicated to train, help, support and offer advice where necessary to all candidates that attend our Training Centre.
Director - Dr Tanya Levine Dr Tanya Levine is the Director of the London Regional Cytology Training Centre. As an undergraduate she studied medicine at Oxford University (pre-clinical) and St Mary's Hospital London, now part of Imperial College (clinical). Following house-jobs she trained in histopathology at University College Hospital, Northwick Park Hospital and St Mary's Hospital, London. Dr Levine’s first consultant post was at the Royal Free Hospital (1997-2001) but moved posts and has been a consultant at North West London Hospitals NHS Trust since 2002. Deputy Director - Mr David Smith David Smith has been working in Cytology since 1984 and joined the department in November 1991 to take up the post as Cytology Laboratory and Training School Manager. Prior to moving to Northwick Park Hospital he worked at the Royal Marsden Hospital. David's list of qualifications include BSc(Hons) in Medical Sciences, FIMLS, M.I.A.C and has also passed the BSCC Certificate of Competence and IBMS examination in Interpretive and Diagnostic Cytology. |

Manager - Mr Mark Terry Mark Terry has been working in Cytology since 1986 in a wide variety of Hospitals and institutions both in the UK and abroad. He joined the team at Northwick Park Hospital in 2002 working both within the diagnostic laboratory and the Training School, whilst maintaining an active role as part of the London Quality Assurance Team. He was appointed as full-time manager for the London Regional Cytology Training Centre in May 2016. Mark's qualifications include BSc(Hons) in Cell Biology, FIMLS, CT(IAC), CSci. |

Consultant - Dr Gillian Williams Dr. Gill Williams is a lecturer in the London Regional Cytology Training School and Consultant Histo/Cytopathologist at Northwick Park Hospital. She qualified from Guy's Hospital Medical School in 1987 and trained in Cellular Pathology at Southampton General Hospital and Guy's and St.Thomas Hospital, with an intervening period of research based within the Imperial Cancer Research Fund at St. Mark's Hospital. She was appointed Secretary to the ICRF Histopathology Tumour Panel in 1996 and subsequently to the Northwick Park post in 1998. Her qualifications include BSc, MBBS, MRCPath, MD. |
