BMS/CYTOSCREENER ONE-DAY UPDATE 3 (Topics: Daily Diagnostic Dilemmas & The Unusual Suspects)
This is the third of our one day updates for experienced Biomedical Scientists and Cytoscreeners designed to refresh their knowledge and keep up to date with current trends. PLEASE NOTE: This forms only part of the NHS CSP mandatory triennial requirements.
Please note that the topics covered by this update course are everyday aspects of "Daily Diagnostic Dilemmas" and rarer diagnoses encoutered as "The Unusual Suspects"

CYTOPATHOLOGY FOR PATHOLOGISTS COURSE - Non Gynae
This 4 day course for consultants and SPR's which covers ONLY non-gynaecological cytology.
Due to popular demand we have added an optional half day mock exam which will be held on the last day of the course for those waiting to take MRCPath exam.
Please indicate on the application form whether you wish to attend this day or not.
Due to the high demand for places on this course, priority will be given to applicants who have not previously attended.
All candidates must be at ST4 level or above.
PAYMENT IN ADVANCE is required in order to secure your place. You will be informed of these arrangments by our Course Administrator upon application

SAMPLE TAKER INITIAL TRAINING
Formally known as the Foundation Course, the content & structure of this course has been revised in 2020 to meet on-line requirements for re-accreditation status by The Royal College of Nursing.
Please Note: The formal training will take place over a one-week period. The first date indicates when initial registration takes place together with an introductory on-line discussion via MS Teams (3hrs - am) There will then be a period of self-directed learning and support leading to the final date when there will be a practical classroom session (1 day). Details and location may vary dependent upon local requirements*

This course is designed for qualified and registered nurses, nursing associates, midwifes, & registered physican associates, or GMC doctors wishing to undertake cervical samples as part of their work. The course content is in line with National Guidance and comprises of pre-course distance learning material, on-line course modules, and classroom teaching
This is a modular course held over a 1 week period with continual on-line assessments, discussion forums, and designated classroom sessions all of which are mandatory components. Classroom sessions will be held at the London Regional Cytology Training Centre at Northwick Park Hospital unless otherwise stipulated. Lectures will be given by both experienced practitioners and cytologists.
A period of supervision and mentoring in required following the course in order to reach qualified status. For this it is essential that, on application, that a designated mentor and external assessor have been assigned.
Acceptance onto this course will be subject to a vetting process to ensure that all applicants are suitably qualified and that nominated mentors are up to date with their own training and registration; a suitable process must also be in place to ensure that an external assessor can be assigned to the applicant
N.B. The course dates advertised for the 29th May/ 4th June are exclusively for applicants approved by the West London Training Hub. Confirmation of this will be required before you can be accepted onto the course.

CYTOLOGY FOR COLPOSCOPISTS
This online Cytology for Colposcopists course has been approved by the BSCCP for Trainee Accreditation.
Developed by the LRCTC the course provides detailed information on
- Laboratory organisation and sample processing, including HPV testing
- Cervical cytology screening, reporting and NHS CSP management protocols
- Cytology and microscopy of normal and abnormal cell components of the cervical sample
- MDT protocols and cervical cancer audit
The course is designed to meet the requirements of the trainee's pathology experience in their understanding of practical laboratory processes and the viewing of cytology slides. The course structure is underpinned by case presentations, Q&A sessions, and an interactive quiz
The course is delivered via MS Teams and is of 5 hours duraton (excluding breaks). Completion of the course has been recognised by the BSCCP as equivalent to face-to-face laboratory training for both registered nurses and doctors training in Colposcopy
